review 1: Non-gory Halloweenish fun with a new play on the zombie idea: Gwen is a zombie, but as long as she eats one brain each month, she passes for human and won't become a mindless, shambling monster. Working as a grave-digger helps her to quietly meet her needs. But when she eats a brain, she absorbs its memories, and the latest meal shows her an unsolved murder. Gwen sets out with help from her friends, Ellie (a ghost who's been dead since the 60s) and a were-terrier nicknamed Spot, to solve this murder so the memories will leave her alone.
review 2: I'm revisiting this series because Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is making a TV series based on it. The book is a fascinating world, and the characters are interesting. A zombie who resolves the lives of the brains
... moreshe eats, who is best friends with a ghost and a WereTerrier. And dealing with a mummy, vampires, and a pair of monster hunters. All of the characters come together pretty organically, and though the overarching story in the first volume isn't very strong, the world makes up for it. Gwen is a very relatable character (for a zombie), and the interactions between everyone are wonderful. It may be a slow start, but it's a worthwhile trip. less

I really don't understand why everyone rated this four Stars. I thought this was kind of lame.

Super-charming comic, big fun. The tone reminds me of the Buffy television series.
