review 1: Hmm..what shall I say? This cannot be matched with The Midwife's confession which kept me up all night and kept me guessing the mystery. With this book, there's not much suspense. No doubt there were little surprises at the end but more than two third of the book was pretty boring to me. Then out of sudden, everything little mystery or suspense she has been holding came pouring out in the last few chapters. I'm kinda disappointed actually.
review 2: Hmm...What to say about this book? It's a good read to pass the time by, but I didnt find myself glued to it and craving it as I did with Dianes other novels. This book was even boring at times, especially during the middle. I feel like the last couple of books of Dianes that I read was just like that. The introduct
... moreion nice and juicy, the middle too long, tedious, BORING and flat with the plot, and the ending too quick to end with its high climax and thrill. This book was JUST like that! And I hate how it ended, too unrealistic. How could the epilogue have happened the way it did? If that happened to me I would be enraged!!!! Too much everyday talk about unimportant stuff that happen like the patients and their problems at the relief site and how Simmee or however you spell her name reading those "tarit" cards to Lady Alice and the chicken coop and stuff while she could have been writing about more important things like Adams and Rebeccas (very slow to start) relationship in more detail if she was going to make Rebecca a character we learn to hate for betraying her sister like that, and I would have loved to read about the exchange of telling the truth to each other about the secrets Rebecca and Maya had from the murder. Diane wrote about the unimportant thigns in this book vs the things that really would have helped the plot and climax of this book. less
