review 1: This volume of Fatale is unlike the others. It is comprised of several short stories depicting different stages of Josephine's life. More or less it reveals where Josephine came from and who she was before we were introduced to her in the first volume. The open question from the first volume of how Hank saved Josphine and where they met was also answered. This volume could be read as a stand alone but if you have read the previous volumes then you will realize that you have basically been brought full circle. The plot does not go any further and does not answer many questions that may have been introduced in the first two. I liked this volume because its focus was more on the weird, supernatural horror that is taking place and not so much on the love connections / control ... moreJosephine has over her male counterparts. There are still many questions rolling around in my head and I am not entirely sure where this story is going so I am looking forward to continuing the series.
review 2: This volume broke away from the arching story of the previous two volumes. At first I found this a little strange but soon I was sucked in and loved it just as much as the first two. I just love the combination of the art and writing. It really is a wonderful mysterious series. I'm very tempted to buy one of the artists sketched in volumes from amazon. Here the stories ranged from the Middle Ages to the American west each revealing a little more about the strange cult and the nature of the fatale. I definitely want to read other books by this team. I'm thoroughly enjoying these. less
