review 1: Primo libro che leggo di Carofiglio e non sarà l'ultimo. Uno, perchè è ambientato nella mia terra d'origine; due, perchè lo si legge come fosse Topolino con un finale abbastanza originale e sorprendente. Protagonista paragonabile all'ispettore Coliandro, è senza dubbio il personaggio più riuscito. E' una lettura tipicamente estiva da leggere sotto l'ombrellone senza troppi impegni. Consigliato! review 2: This series of books featuring the Italian lawyer, Guerrieri, just keeps on getting better and better. These are wonderfully written novels that escape the confines of the legal thriller. As in the other books in the series the crime is almost incidental; yes, the crime is solved by Guerrieri, but it is essentially a device that allows the autho... morer to explore the character of a man getting to early middle age who is suffering many of the anxieties that beset men of that age. The solution to the crime brings no-one any happiness, not least to Guerrieri. This is a man who faces up to the challenges of life as best he can, but he remains at heart a good man who wants to do the right thing, but doesn't always manage to do so. Along the way he does rather give you back a little faith in lawyers. A word of praise for the translation, it seems to me an outstanding piece of work. less
