review 1: Things are really heating up for Kate Daniels in book 4 of the series. We are getting a lot closer to understanding her background and purpose. Without giving away any spoilers, I’ll just note that there are some crucial plot developments in this book. Although I complained after the first book about the lack of information regarding the fantasy world in which this story takes place, by now I feel like the world building is much more rich and developed. I love the warring between the magic and the tech and I think it’s very creative and unique. Also, I feel like each book gets funnier than the last. Maybe it’s just because I’m a dog owner, but I laughed a lot at the addition of Kate’s “attack poodle.” I’m a big fan of this se... moreries.
review 2: It seemed so real and so badass that every night after reading it I wished I had a body like Kate's that can only be replicated with 50,000 hours of working out and sword play just to be ready for anything at any second for whatever life throws at you and be ready to fight AND win! I knows it's a book but dam! How do you get up in the morning deal with half the crazy stuff she has too? More importantly....(ahem) Kate can I please shadow you so I can learn to be Kate # 2?? I can't stop thinking about how happy I am that I ran into this series after reading reviews and scouring Good Reads for another good book to read. The authors are very very good. By good I mean excellent. Too many authors change the characters after the first 2 books in the series and it becomes boring or suddenly the character is not as strong and confident as they used to be. I gave given up on several series' because of that but this series is just great from start to end. Love it! less
