review 1: Ha -- I got so caught up in the comments, I forgot to write a review! :-)This was a really well-paced and breathless novel right from the beginning. It's probably the darkest Kate Daniels book so far, and certainly the next bloodiest after Book 1. So thank goodness for the interludes between Kate and Curran, which provided some relief from the tension. I found the Lighthouse Keepers truly terrifying. They finally provided a chance to see into the minds and experience of people left out of the Magic Shift, and while I didn't agree with their tactics at all, I could at least sympathize with their frustration (which, in a weird way, made them even scarier). I really loved the introduction of Kate's extended family of witches and volhvs, and I am very much looking forward t... moreo seeing more of them. And the new information revealed about Voron and Kate's mother was just heartbreaking. These books manage to pull every feeling-string I've got! The Epilogue to this installment was also tense and terrifying. I can't guess what's going to happen in Book 6 after all of this.
review 2: LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Best one of the series yet. I thoroughly enjoyed Kate and Curran and how settled they are in this novel. There's no more of the angst, and we are just able to relax and enjoy their growing relationship. So sexy!I have so many favorite parts, but I think one of my favorite scenes was when Kate was doing the petitions by herself and she seriously kicked some Alpha wolf butt. Go Kate! I've always appreciated how tough she is. She can throw herself into danger and I don't roll my eyes and become annoyed, because she has the skills to back it up. I loved all of the conversations between Kate and Curran in this novel. There wasn't a whole lot of smexin', but the way the authors wrote it makes the book infinitely more sweet. There were some tender conversations and moments between the two, and I sighed as I finished reading the book. Can't recommend this series enough if you haven't had a chance to read it! It's one of the best! less

A little more serious compared to previous books but I loved it just as much. Full review to follow.

This series keeps going strong. Give me more Curran and I'll give you more stars. It's a fair trade.
