review 1: I enjoy reading most of what James Rollins publishes, but this was not one of my favorites. I liked it, and I finished it because I wanted to find out what happened...but parts of it were clunky. The bad guy was cliche and reminded me too much of the bad guy from Amazonia. The members of Sigma spend far too much time separated in the book, which makes for a lot of scene jumping. One of the members probably should have been in the story but isn't, and several others should have been left out but were shoehorned in. The good news is that the science makes an intriguing story even if the narrative is a bit slow at times. Maybe it's my own biases or maybe it's his background, but Rollins seems to spin the biological sciences the best and biology saves this s... moretory.
review 2: The problem I have with James Rollins is he always leaves me wanting more! One of the reasons I love his books is the way he structures it. It is challenging because it's like 3 books in one, each one inter-connecting to form THE book. This format really challenges my gray cells and I love it. Adventure, history, mystery, science. It's all there. I'm on w/l for "Innocent Blood" of the Order of the Sanguines Series and "The Kill Switch" from his Tucker Wayne series. After that, I'll just have to keep bugging James Rollins to write more. I know he'll listen to me!! less

Interesting premise but a bit hard to slug through. Too many story lines.
