review 1: I really enjoyed this book. It's set in England and written by an English author and it was very interesting to read the different phrases the British use and the differences in their justice system. Actually it's not much different than ours. The storyline is basically different than the synopsis of the book. They are searching for a psycho-killer who kills and then burns his victims. But the real story is about the murder of another young woman and the investigation into that murder. There is a psychological aspect to the investigation into the suspects which makes it interesting. It isn't hard to figure out early on but getting there makes enjoyable reading.
review 2: I would recommend this book as it was an easy, entertaining read. I agree it was a
... moreslow start but when you are introducing characters this is all part of setting the scene. Without giving anything a way, I figured out who the murderer was early on. This didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book, as I was still interested to see how the story would pan out. My only criticism is how the story ended; it felt lazy, and as if the author just wanted to wrap the story up quickly. As a first in a series this was an enjoyable read. I've downloaded the next two books and look forward to finding out what Maeve did next. less

An absolute page turner! I couldn't put it down for a whole 12 hours! Definitely a good book.

Loved it. Very much in the style of Tana French, without some of the dramatic frills.
