review 1: cc:The Black Knights of Army and the Midshipmen of Navy have met on the football field since 1890, and it’s a rivalry like no other, filled with tradition.Teen sports reporters Stevie and Susan Carol have been busy at West Point and Annapolis, getting to know the players and coaches—and the Secret Service agents. Since the president will be attending the game, security will be tighter than tight. Weeks and months have been spent on training and planning and reporting to get them all to this moment. But when game day arrives, the refs aren’t the only ones crying foul. . . .John Feinstein has been praised as “the best writer of sports books in America today” (The Boston Globe), and he proves it again in this fast-paced novel.by John Feinstein
review 2:
... more The book I chose to write about was The Rivalry by John Feinstein. The story is about an Army vs. Navy football game. There are over 90,000 people in the stadium when the game starts. Two teenage reporters Stevie and Susan are reporting on the game. President Obama is at the game! This is an exciting book that I would give 4 stars because it was interesting but it could have been longer and they could have expanded some more parts to make them more descriptive.Susan and Stevie, the main characters in The Rivalry, are both very intelligent. These characters and their relationship was one of the things I liked the most about this story. They are both teenage reporters and are reporting on the game. I also think they are wiser then most people because they noticed that the referees were throwing the game and the referees did end up getting thrown out halfway through the game. Also I think Susan and Stevie might be going out because “being part of Army Navy was like nothing he’d done in his life. But seeing it up close with Susan Carol made it just about perfect’’. I lastly find this book interesting because there was a connection that I really found interesting was that they write about sports and they really enjoy it and I also really enjoy sports. Another reason I liked this book was because of the suspense of the football game. One reason it was suspenseful is because when they were in the redzone (which is within the 20 yard line) I never knew if anyone was ever going to score a touchdown. The referees kept making terrible calls. Also it is suspenseful because the last page doesn’t actually say who wins but it does say that it goes into overtime.I enjoyed the book because of the comparison between the players who show great honor apposed to referees that who will just cheat for the money. The referees were accused of cheating in the Navy vs. Notre Dame game so I do not know why they would bring them back to referee a very important matchup. Like the Army vs. Navy gameThat is why I liked the book The Rivalry by John Feinstein. Also if you have read any of the other books from this series you will definitely enjoy this book. If you enjoy mystery books you might want to read this book for your next book report. less
