review 1: Perhaps one day I will give a more involved review of these that does not boil down to "ALSO GREAT." I love Penny and Matthew and the angels, and I haven't read any other author who describes cities as living, breathing entities better than Kate Griffin; I wasn't entirely in love with the ending, but I guess it did kind of subvert my expectations? After book 2 I was really hoping that we'd be able to avoid some of the deaths, and I feel particularly uncomfortable about JG, but. Still a great book, and I'm still excited to read the next one.
review 2: As usual, a fascinating ride from Kate Griffin. I've grown used to her prose and the vivid descriptions of London. The Neon Court is appropriately decadent without the silly amounts of sexuality you may be used to
... morefrom certain urban fantasy authors. The villain is wildly different, gruesome and terrifying. Great read from cover to cover, but for one thing. I really don't care for Penny. At all. She comes across the most forced, the most fake, the least real character in the entire series. I thought I'd grow to like her or at least feel her settle in, but, I'd gratefully drop her down a well. less

The narrative, other than a few asides, rarely lets up. It's go, go, go, from start to finish.

Very good. A substantial continuation of the mythology of the previous books.
