43 Old Cemetery Road
review 1: This fifth novel in the 43 Cemetary Road oeuvre has Iggy, Seymour and, yes, eventhe ghostly ghostwriter Olive C. Spense heading for Hollywood to star in a big-screen adaptation of their own story, now a best-selling book series! But there's a few snags: Producer Block Buster, the Spielberg of his generation (at least he WOULD have you believe THAT!) has asked a live actress to portray Lady Spense, NOT some fuddy ghostie with glasses and...weeeel, that's it. She's portrayed by the formerly ravishing (now RAVISHED 90-something has-been) star of stage and screen Ms. Ivana Oscar! And she VANTS that Oscar! It's the sole remaining award to add to her collection of 297 at home (that IS a guess-timate!). The final caveat: Ms. Oscar must DIE on film to add to the film's cult status... more, kinda like Heath Ledger from "that" Batman film. Only Ms. Oscar is blissfully unaware. Unless Lady Spense pulls off the ultimate coup de tat to outwit the horrid Mr. Buster once and for all. A perfect Post-it note to any real-life film producer who DARES to mess with Ms. Klise's wondrous work in our time: Ms. Spense is WATCHING......
review 2: The fifth in the "43 Old Cemetery Road" series, Seymour, his guardian Ig, and the ghost Olive go to Hollywood where their book is being made into a feature film. Filled with lots of jokes, puns, and humor relating to the film business, this exaggerates many of the truths about the dark side of the film business but it is grounded in reality. As always, the series features lots of hand-written correspondence, cartoon artwork, faux newspaper clippings, and other visuals that will attract reluctant readers. Even those who have not read the first book will appreciate this due to the satire on Hollywood, and the visual aspects. less
