review 1: The paranormal in this story is very subtle. You forget about it as you get lost in this town and yet there is always that nagging feeling that something is right below the surface but you can't quiet see it. For an isolated town built around a research center on the far side rod an island, it seems like a great place to live. Not nefarious or creepy at all. I forgot what I was reading and it took me forever to remember that this was the same world as the Otherworld books. I enjoyed that a lot because when some of the pieces started to fall into place, it made me excited to see how it will deepen that world once it is all said and done.
