review 1: Violent Century was one of the best pieces of literature I read in 2013. Crossing the boundaries between comic book pop culture and mainstream lit, Tidhar was able to craft a unique and compulsive narrative. Caught at the very core of the narrative, amongst the explosions and excitement of a comic book, is Fogg's breathtaking path through the darkness of World War Two, the bitter loses of the Cold War and in the rootless insanity of the post-911 world. Tihdar is able to capture each era and moment. I'd strongly recommend for comic book fans wanting more, and lit readers who have wandered off the beaten path.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book, despite wondering the whole way through what the actual point of the book was. I reads more like a collection of shor
... moret stories centered around the same characters, rather than a traditionally linear novel. I loved the characters, the conflicts, the interactions and interconnected-ness of the characters and their stories. It was intense and moving and mysterious, making me want to read and know more about the characters and the worlds they inhabited. As a novel I feel this book fails a bit, but I can let that slide, as it more than made up for it in other ways. 4 out of 5 stars. less

Different, but I still enjoyed it. Like one long comic book with an economical usage if words.
