review 1: What did I just read? Poetry, this book is trying to tell me to which I respond: REALLY?? This is poetry?? Well, in any case it's bad poetry and it's an hour of my life that I will never get back. I guess I can live with that. What I can't live with is this incessant need to be over the top clever that the heart and soul of the writing gets left behind. There were a couple of highlights, but not enough for me to not want to throw this pretentious book at the wall. I wanted to like it, I really did, but it kept haunting, jabbing and peeling away at my patience and reasonably calm state of mind. I want my money back.
review 2: I'm usually not a huge fan of poetry, but because I really loved "The Fallback Plan", I was drawn to read some Leigh Stein's poetry, and I
... more'm glad I did. It's clever, but it definitely doesn't take itself too seriously, and I actually enjoyed jumping through the pages, and found it easy to read one poem after another. (I'm also super excited because I found something Kelly Link-esque in Stein's writing, which is just yay). less

Part IV was the best bit of it. Quest for perfection: what a killer.
