review 1: I wanted more to happen in this book. There was not one character that acted in a way that made sense. The couple, their children, the grandmother, the grandmother's caregiver, the young neighborhood boy and the young nanny/murder victim all were interesting but not compelling. There was not a character that I was drawn to or felt I understood or enjoyed. Everyone's lack of really taking a hold of life made the book not boring but unsatisfying.
review 2: I read this book to the end hoping to get to the resolution (it is a mystery). While she writes well and it makes an interesting ischaracter study - she doesn't take you below the surface to a real understanding of why people do what they do and the main mystery is not resolved in a way that feels into the
... moretwisted tale of this family. I would read her again but this book ultimately left me wondering why I had spent so much time with it. less

It's difficult to like a novel when you don't really like any of the characters.

Tedious. Quit after 50 pages.
