review 1: I have to say that Lynn Hagen is one my favorite authors of all time!! When I first bought my Nook, I saw her books advertised, but always put off reading them, then I purchased Maverick's Mate and I've been hooked ever since!! I have now read every single book Lynn has written and eagerly await and devour any thing that she writes!! I have even repurchased ALL of her books when I moved from the Nook to the Kindle!! Thank you Lynn for providing me with so many hours of enjoyment and pleasure!! YOU ROCK!!!
review 2: The Brac Pack is back! In the 6th installment of this shifter series, OLIVER'S HEART, Oliver learns to deal with his past and learns to accept himself as well. Once again dealing with some very uncomfortable subject matter in a tactful and sensitive
... moremanner, I applaud Ms. Hagen for her ability to do so. She pens a story of not just surviving the horrors in life but thriving. When Oliver arrived at "the den", he was angry at his father for the years of abuse that he had to endure and resentful towards his brother Blair for leaving him. Not knowing how to deal with his feelings, he lashes out at everyone in the house, including his mate, Micah. But after months of living with the pack he comes to understand that his brother didn't abandon him and he is finally coming to terms with being gay himself. Now he just needs to convince Micah that he is ready to be claimed.Micah has been making excuses and apologizing to everyone for Oliver's behavior for months. Now that Oliver is 18, his wolf wants to claim him but Micah isn't sure that Oliver is really ready. So he spends as much time away from Oliver as he can. Oliver, thinking that Micah doesn't want him, does something that causes a misunderstanding between the mates that almost finishes them before they have a chance.I've been looking forward to this story since we met Oliver in the third book, and for me it didn't disappoint. Knowing from the start the issues the couple was going to have to deal with didn't make it any easier to read. I felt for both Oliver and Micah as they struggled to come together. Even with the seriousness that Oliver is working through there are still those moments when all the mates come together that made me laugh. Another strong installment in this series, and once again I am ready to read what happens next for the Pack. This review originally posted at The Romance Reviews. less

I wasn't actually too excited about reading Oliver's story. I felt for him, considering what he'd been through with his father, but his and Micah's story wasn't the reason I was looking forward to this book. Rather, it was because of the Pack in general. I love their dynamics and the way they look after each other and I have a perpetual smile on my face while reading this series. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed the love story as well. Oliver finally came out of his shell. When he arrived at "The Den" he was bitter and resentful, he had been being molested by his father for over a year and was angry at the world for what he'd suffered through since his brother Blair had been kicked out of the house. Micah had patiently been giving Oliver space and making sure everybody understood why Oliver was lashing out, too afraid to hurt or pressure Oliver he had even been keeping his distance since he'd turned 18. Even though there is a lot of humour in the stories and they aren't very long, there are always little comments that break my heart and really make me feel for the characters, such as Johnny's off-hand comment about never having been picked for anyone's team when the mates went to the Rec Center to play basketball. Oliver really came through in his story as well, he finally sat down and talked things through with Blair and he got his well deserved happily ever after.

typical lynn hagen serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical lynn hagen? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.). out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all books by :lynn hagenstormy glennscarlett hyacinthcarol lynnegabrielle evansunless otherwise noted. i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry. i figure it's about as much time as they put into their books. dammit! well, i made it all the way to the end being rather moderate in my assessment. that's a win.
