review 1: I would have loved the book. Except for the unrealistic stupidity (call me an optimist if you like) of the characters and the one-track minded evil of the bad guys. Another thing that bothers me is the US-centeredness. For something that is a worldwide phenomenon, we hear absolutely nothing of what is happening outside the US, which apparently fights a war with itself while the rest of the world is nonexistent or has no influence whatsoever on these events.
review 2: The first book in this series was great, but the sequel made me want to pull my own arms off and beat myself with them. Maybe it was because the narrator (this was an Audible audiobook) was so incredibly annoying. He read the story like Captain Kirk talks. Plenty of over-emoting and dramatic pause
... mores. I listened to the last third of the novel, but I honestly have no idea what happened, nor do I care. Don't bother reading this hot mess of crappy science fiction. less
