review 1: In this book, the Antagonist is the Scarlet Hand because they threaten to wipe out the human population. In their way are is the Protagonist which is the Grimm family, and they intend to defeat the Scarlet Hand before they can complete their evil plans. In this part of the series, the Grimms go head to head with the Scarlet Hand. This time the Grimms come with an army, but the Scarlet Hand intends to wipe out the Grimms with their overwhelming numbers. In this book, the theme of the book is that there is tons of Suspense, Violence, Betrayal but has some parts of Romance. You can spot all these categories in the book. It is full of them. The main idea is that the Grimms finally go head to head with their arch nemesis The Scarlet Hand. The Grimms are craving to finally get t... morehe chance to have one big victory against The Scarlet Hand but they know their victory will not come easily. So this time they seek help from a friend with an army and they are hoping to finally beat The Scarlet Hand. The book is over the top engaging. The reader will want to read more everyday. In the book there is so much action and suspense to get the reader in the book. The reader will easily imagine themselves in the book like there right next to the characters and action. They will also get the shivering feeling when they find who is behind what. They will also be surprised of who comes out evil. They will also laugh about the funny words and phrases in the book. The book is amazing and I will definitely suggest this as a readers first choice. I think the theme is very easy to understand because the writing of each chapter has a lot of definition and detail so that the reader can imagine were all the setting is taking place. I think this book will be a good read for 6th although it might be too easy for some readers
review 2: All the work and wishing is finally coming to a close: Sabrina and Daphne Grimm's parents - who were trapped for the past 2 years in sleeping spell - finally awake. But before the celebrations can start, the reality of civil war between Everafters (the characters of folk and fairytales) overtakes them all. The Grimms after centuries of neutrality, are forced to take sides. Picked up this audio book not realising it is the seventh in the series. Though there is death, betrayal, war... Buckley manages to lighten the tone of the whole tale with unexpected interpretations of fairytale characters, slapstick comedy, and the peppy personalities of at least one of the two young protagonists, Sabrina and Daphne. An entertaining read, but definitely not as dark or complex as the Fables series by Bill Willingham, despite having a lot of similarities. It was also difficult to suspend disbelief to the level of that young children could be given so much responsiblity... but perahps if I had started the series and grown with them, I would see just how capable they were. Wouldn't mind reading / listening to more in the series, but won't necessarily be searching them out. less
