Chronicles of Elantra
review 1: Kaylin has to manage the recitation of the regalia in the West March, without really understanding what is going on. There is much confusion in this book, and as I said in my review of its predecessor, I find it surprising I like these books as much as I do given my confusion about what is going on so much of the time. It must be the characters. I believe we get some good tidbits of background on Severn and Teela in this novel, and it wraps up to a nice conclusive (for the moment) ending. Kaylin also gives the small ... and sometimes not so small ... translucent dragon a name, and so she gets to keep him.
review 2: This one wasn't to bad, but it wasn't the best book in this series either. What makes the Elantra series so good is that the characters are all
... more believable and they all bring something different to the table. It is the way that all of these different peoples interact which makes the stories good. The problem with this book is that the only people there are the main character and the Barrani. I missed the other species being present in this one. To me the Barrani have always been the most boring out of all the species in this world. The story was also a little hit and miss. It was the same scenario happening over and over again. Someone goes to sleep or gets stuck somewhere and the main character brings them back in a totally implausible way. The book was still a decent read but I can't wait for the story to take place in the city again and involve all of the things that makes the series good. less

To say I'm excited for the next book would be an understatement.
