review 1: Quick comments:-Too much forced tension between Raphael and Elena regarding her independence and the privacy of her mind+Well thought out clothing for angels who have wings to deal with-Elena is often alone when attacked even though she should be guarded by the super elite Seven (it seems like Raphael doesn't know how to protect her even though he is so powerful)-Really quick resolution of both of the main nemeses in this book. One suddenly becomes sloppy even though s/he was sneaky the rest of the time and the other is also anticlimactically taken care of.+/- Realistically, Elena needs to spend a lot of time healing and learning her new body. But that means that this book doesn't have a lot of action going on. There are events occurring around them but there is no sense o... moref alertness or imminent danger to her.I will continue with the series because I am curious about/like the supporting cast such as Illium, Aodhan, and Jason.
review 2: Nalini Singh is quickly becoming my favorite author, her prose is lush and delicious. The way she describes everything, from tastes and smells to the imagery of the angels' wings is breathtaking, I love it! I don't want to spoil the plot, so I'll just say it was super entertaining. Her characters are intelligent, sexy, dangerous, multicultural, and for all their preternatural glory, superbly human--everything I've been looking for, for a very long time, in a good urban fantasy read. I highly recommend. Also, I listened to the audio version, and the narrator does a great job with all the different voices, its really quite impressive. A+++. less
