review 1: Becca Robins makes preserves and jams which she sells every weekend at Bailey's Farmer's Market run by her twin sister Allison. One of the other sellers at the market is found murdered and the main suspect is her friend Abner Justen.Becca, convinced of Abner's innocence, begins her own investigation. And there the author goes over my invisible line of ethics in writing. Becca breaks into places, trespasses onto private property and generally does everything possible to mess up the police investigation. She is supposedly infatuated with the police officer in charge of the case and he allows her to question suspects herself but withholds all the information she gathers. These kind of books turn me off. They can be written so much more within proper guidelines of actual... more police investigation. I was very disappointed.
review 2: This is the first book in a cozy mystery series called Farmers' Market Mystery. Becca is a jam and preserves maker who grows her own fruit on her farm, and sells her jams and preserves at a farmers' market where her twin sister Allison is the manager. Early one morning a new merchant is found murdered. When another long time seller at the market is arrested for the murder Becca refuses to believe the kind, old man she knows could be the murderer. She sets out to prove it and, in doing so, puts her own life in danger. less
