review 1: Ok, for the majority of this book, I was highly engaged. The relationship of two sisters, long separated from each other, was fascinating to me - particularly since I have sisters myself. The writing style was interesting and the mysteries surrounding the old house and the history of the family that lived there was intriguing. But, the ending? WHAT THE HECK? Not expecting that! What a tragic story! And not just one of those stories that is tragic, but deeply moving or touching, like Tale of Two Cities. No, this is just disaster tragic. There is no measure of redemption, no closure for characters, no since of hope in the midst of family suffering. Nope. Just despair and madness. So, if you want to feel depressed and horrified by events and question the motives of the dear o... moreld lady down the street, feel free to pick this book up! Otherwise, I would recommend that you find another summer read...
review 2: I have this book under the title of The Behaviour of Moths. It tells the story of 2 sisters from childhood to old age. Ginny and Vivi are brought up in the family mansion whilst there father studies the habits of moths. The book begins with the return of Vivi after 47 years absence. Ginny is the narrator and the story tells of their childhood and adolescence before Vivi moves to London. Why did she stay away? Why did she hate her father? Why has she returned? Many secrets are unfolded over the period of a few days. I liked this book but at the end was still no further knowing the answer to one of the questions the book poses. less
