The stereotypical love of coffee college students have is definitely real here at Marist. Despite Starbucks being a hot commodity on campus, several other locations in the Poughkeepsie area have become popular as well. Here are some of my favorites.
Starbucks has two main locations on campus. One is located in the James A. Cannavino Library and the other is located in Hancock, home to the department of Computer Science and Mathematics. If you do not think the options at these locations suffice, check out the stand-alone Starbucks located right across the street!
Thankfully, there are several Dunkin’ Donuts locations in Poughkeepsie close enough for students who prefer it to Starbucks. Not only is there a choice of coffee, but also a variety of their famous doughnuts, bagels, and speciality drinks to chose from! You cannot go wrong. The Crafted Kup Coffee House is located near Vassar College, about a 15 minute drive from Marist. It is definitely a place to check out if you are into hand-crafted espresso beverages. They also offer coffee shakes, organic coffees, and teas. You can grab baked goods and bagels to go along with you beverage there, too!
BabyCakes is also located in the Vassar community and is known for their delicious brunch. If you are an iced coffee fan this is totally a place t0 check out – their famous hazelnut and caramel iced coffee is a customer favorite. They even offer free refills!
The Poughkeepsie Grind is another local coffee shop in the Poughkeepsie area. Here they offer your regular coffee and teas, but they also offer more elaborate beverages such as their caramel macchiato or white chocolate mocha. If you are in the mood for a coffee and some breakfast to go with it, their waffles are always a good idea. Try it out!
