Wedi i ni gasglu pawb o’u hysgolion, i ffwrdd â ni yn y bws mini am Gaernarfon i ymweld â Gefail yr Ynys a chyfranogi mewn gweithdy gyda’r Artist Preswyl Katie Surridge a Dylan y Gof.
After collecting everyone from their schools we set off on the minibus for Caernarfon to visit Gefail yr Ynys and take part in a workshop with the resident Artist Katie Surridge and the Blacksmith Dylan.
Fe ymgasglon ni i gyd yn yr efail ac wedi cyflwyniad gan Dylan a Katie fe ymrannon ni’n grwpiau i ddechrau gweithio â’r metel. Roedd un grŵp yn gweithio â Dylan yn yr efail yn ffurfio daliwr cwpan o roden sengl o ddur. Dangosodd Dylan i bob person unigol sut i wresogi , siapio a phlygu’r metel.
We all gathered in the forge and after an introduction from Dylan and Katie we separated in groups to start working with the metal. One group was working with Dylan at the forge forming a cup holder from a single rod of steel. Dylan showed each person how to heat, shape and curve the metal.
Gweithiodd grŵp arall â Katie’n morthwylio ac yn llunio pibellau copr yn freichled, gan ddefnyddio gwahanol offer.
Aeth y trydydd grŵp ati i arlunio ychydig o syniadau dylunio ar bapur i ddechrau cyn penderfynu pa un oedden nhw’n ei hoffi orau. Yna fe fuon nhw’n arlunio ar sgwariau bychan o ddalen gopr â phen marcio du. Rhoddwyd y sgwariau copr wedyn mewn asid wedi’i dwymo a’i adael i fwyta i mewn i’r metel lle nad oedd yna unrhyw ben marcio i fod yn rhwystr.
Another group worked Katie hammering and shaping copper pipes into a bracelet, using various tools.
The third group initially drew a few design ideas onto paper before deciding which they like best. They then drew onto small squares of copper sheet with a black marker pen. The squares of copper were then placed into warmed acid and left for the acid to eat into the metal where there was no marker pen to act as a barrier.
Wedi i ni fwyta ein cinio o gwmpas tân y Gof i gynhesu, fe ffeiriwyd y grwpiau a rhoi cynnig ar un arall o’r gweithgareddau nes bod pob grŵp wedi cwblhau pob un o’r tri gweithdy.
Ar ôl tacluso a diolch i Katie a Dylan, yn ôl â ni i’r bws cynnes croesawgar i fynd am adref. Daeth pob un o’r grŵp oddi yno â thri o eitemau metel gwahanol iawn wedi iddyn nhw eu creu.
After eating our lunch around the Blacksmith’s fire to warm up, the groups swapped around and tried another of the activities until each groups had completed all three workshops.
After a tidy up and a big thank you to Katie and Dylan we all climbed back onto the welcomingly warm coach to head home. Each of the group came away with three very different metal objects they had created.
