review 1: A team of archaeologists in Greenland hears rumors of a flu spreading worldwide, and soon after loses contact with the outside world. As they struggle to survive the oncoming winter, they are also faced with ghosts from a the Viking settlement they are excavating that may or may not be real. Full of rich historic and atmospheric details as well as being gripping and eerie, this book is so suspenseful you almost can't stand it.
review 2: There were some very good things about Cold Earth but equally there were some dodgy bits. I really liked the archaeology, it was a very interesting history of the Greenlanders that was portrayed throughout the novel. The characterization was good, however the ghost element was abit strange, especially when we were also dealing... more with the tension of an epidemic spreading across the world. The rescue of the archaeologist is not documented we just have a very brief description from Nina at the end. An interesting novel but some I felt some of the elements of the novel could have been explored further. less
