review 1: I love this series, and this 7th entry is just another great continuation of Toby's story. And how cool that we now know so many more things, like Quentin's heritage and the evil queen's history. The evolution of (the reader's) knowledge over a series really does make you want to stick around. October Daye is a kiskass hero! For me, Toby's series is up there with Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series and Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series. Keep 'em comin'!
review 2: I enjoyed this "episode" of the series a lot. The first chapter would have benefited from a better editing pass, but the story hit its breakneck-paced stridw soon after. The time spanned is short, and the time pressure is high, so there's never much breathing room, but that worked for this book. ... moreMore secrets about Toby's true nature are hinted at, and I think I have a pretty good notion of the truth behind them--can't wait to see if I'm right. less
