review 1: It was okay. I felt it lacked something but couldn't put my finger on it. It's not meant to be serious, it's meant to be entertaining, but I felt an overwhelming 'so what' about the whole thing. It picked up a little about three quarters of the way through and then ended so suddenly I was shocked. (I know, the fact that there were no pages left should have been a clue - in my defence, there was a glossary) It's vaguely reminiscent of McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency but not nearly as good. I was glad to finish it.
review 2: This is my second Vishpuri mystery and I enjoyed it as much as the first one. I listened to this one as well, and the accents of the narrator were quite accurate. It is interesting how life imitates art, and a myth-buster was rec... moreently shot and killed in India. Though not in as dramatic a way as in the book. The social causes that Tarquin Hall deals with in his book are spot-on. I find the books entertaining and informative. Love them! less
