review 1: Easy is hired by the LAPD as an undercover person to find a missing girl. The LAPD will not admit to hiring Easy. Rose Gold is the missing girl. She is the daughter of an arms manufacturer. Easy solves several problems on the way to finding Rose. (Rose thinks she is helping the black cause, like Patty Hearst joined the PLA.) One problem is the death of a black man married to a white woman dies. The woman's child is taken by the black family who thinks that a part black child should be with a black family. A policeman Easy knows is honest is put off the job and accused of being dishonest because he fell in love with a woman who was passing counterfeit money. Good old Easy solves these crimes and more. Good, fast read.
review 2: Rose Gold: a novel by Wa... morelter Mosley is number 13 in his Easy Rawlins mystery series. The mystery is why an African American ex-boxer has been targeted as a black power revolutionary leader by the L.A.P.D. who have orders to shoot him on sight. What Easy has been hired to do is to find a missing heiress named Rosemary Goldsmith who was, he has been told, last seen with the ex-boxer. Mouse is out of town on business, but not out of touch, and Easy is able to call in favors from folks he has helped in the past, including Mama Jo, whose new Lesbian lover is known in the revolutionary cell known as “Scorched Earth.” Feather is fourteen, has earned admission to an exclusive private high school, and demands that Easy tell her who her parents were. Jesus and Benita have a new baby, and Bonnie has made it clear she will wait as long as it takes for him to come back to her. less
