review 1: I continue to enjoy Anne Perry's books. This is one of the latest in the Monk series and involves the trade of opium in 1860s England. I really enjoyed the historical aspects of the book and the sociological reflections as well. Perry effectively wove the mystery in with the cultural information. The mystery was enjoyable. The story arc of the Jericho Phillips trial and boats continues in this book as well. The echoes of that arc are heard in this book and result in the solution of the crime.
review 2: Loved this one! Maybe partly because it was a different subject line. I was surprised at Monk using "the pictures" to get justice. I am not sure if it was ethical, although it had to be done. I was very conflicted on this point. If anyone else has any
