review 1: This was one of the best book I have read in a long time. I actually didn't want to finish it. That how much of a beautiful read it was for me. It surprised me a few times and touched something on me a few times also. This is a story about rape and how deeply it effects people. But one of the thing I really appreciate about this book was that it didn't have that much graphic description. The victims doesn't appear that much but when they do they made me connect to them. The clues are revealed when you don't expect them. While the characters themselves don't knew about it. This book has many good points and I would defiantly read more of the series.
review 2: I haven't (yet) read any of the other Indriðason's books, so I came to it with no expectations. This is
... more possibly why I'm mystified by those reviewers who find it boring and tedious. I think it's superb, though dark, oppressive and slow-moving, but to call it a murder mystery is to miss the point. The title certainly doesn't refer to the murder that the book revolves about but to the rape and the rapes which precede it. less

Even without Erlendur, another worthy addition to this Icelandic series.
