review 1: For the first half of this book, I was convinced the main character was stupid. I don't know if she learned enough to be okay or if I just got used to her and the book. And I don't know if the author intended to make her flighty and somewhat irresponsible in the beginning, so she could show her growth in the middle and end. I did enjoy the end of the book, though, so I'll give the author the benefit of the doubt. I'll look for more of the Bailey Ruth books.
review 2: I've read the series of 3 delightful murder mysteries featuring a ghostly heroine, Bailey Ruth, and heartily recommend them for pure, relaxing fun. Rather in the tradition of the old "Topper" model, Bailey Ruth, deceased, returns on assignment from the Department of Good Intentions to help out
... more those in need. The writing is strong, if not profound. But the character of Bailey Ruth is such a treat, her efforts to do her job so sincere, her impulsive lapses from following the Precepts so hilarious, one just sits back and enjoys it. And there is the mystery to be solved, besides. Great fun all around. less
