Brotherband Chronicles
review 1: Will and his friends continue on their quest to retrieve the Andomal, a precious Skandian artifact stolen by a fearsome pirate. AS they search for the pirate, Zavac, they come across Lydia who informs them of Zavac's occupation of her town. Hal and his crew band together with the survivors and some Skandian allies to liberate the town and fight their way to Zavac to take back their precious treasure. The second installment of the Brotherband Chronicles series is filled with action and contains interesting weapon concepts, however, there are some slower and less interesting portions in the book. It also shows the effectiveness of Hal and his Brotherband as the work quickly and effectively without faltering. It is still an amazing book that those that crave action or adv... moreenture would enjoy greatly
review 2: Hal and his motley crew unite with the people of Limmat to try and capture Zavac, their sworn enemy, who stole the Andomal, their homeland's most prcieless object. The only way for them to regain their honor is to capture Zavac and retrieve the Andomal, but they're just a crew of boys. Will Hal's planning skills and the fighting techniques they've learned from Brotherband training be enough to defeat the ruthless pirate, and free Limmat from his clutches?I have always been a fan of John Flanagan's writing, and this book contained all the reasons why. It had a lovable cast of characters, who were beautifully characterized by Mr. Flanagan, making them as vivid and unique as someone in real life. The way the characters interact make them even more lifelike. The main character, Hal, is one of John Flanagan's signature characters: the planner. He is the force that drives the crew forward, and his ingenious plans keep you reading, looking to see how they play out and just what he is thinking. But of characters are Mr. Flanagan's forte, (which they are) then his fortissimo is dialogue. The dialogue is witty and clever, yet always fits in perfectly with the character saying it. It is really what keeps you glued to the book, and keeps you interested. It prevents the book from getting goo serious or too whimsical to be interesting. The dialogue is what makes this book a book that would interest people of all ages instead of just its target audience, teenagers. All in all, it's phenomenal. So, keeping all these things in mind, this book was another hit for Mr. Flanagan. It was nothing way beyond what his past writings were, but average for John Flanagan is still a superb book. I give this book 4/5 stars, and my recommendation. less

The book begins where it left off, with the crew chasing after the thieves. They have lost them and must relocate them soon. The crew comes across a girl who knows where the thieves/pirates are, her hometown! So she leads them there where Hal learns he must create a masterful battle scheme to have any chance to recover what was stolen from the them. Meanwhile a ship from home has been sent out after them, to aid them. The battle occurs and the pirates manage to elude capture. I loved how masterfully this tale was told and how realistic it is. It is a tale of complete fiction in a made up world, set at a time before machinery. Yet there is no magic, just people with good skills that learn how to make them better and progress through teamwork and good judgment. It teaches us that we don't need magic to be successful. We can be successful if we work hard and keep trying. I truly loved this book. Perfectly clean.

Another excellent installment in The Brotherband chronicles by John Flanagan. Although it's slow in a lot of parts in the book it's overall an excellent book. I recommend you read the first book before this though since this is the second book in the series. I really enjoyed reading this book because it was filled with action. Although some parts were boring it was a great book overall. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loved The Ranger's Apprentice series.
