review 1: Chu & Amelia Mintz's relationship is going pretty well, but can it survive a family gathering with the entire Chu family? Meanwhile Chu's partner goes after Savoy and a bionic fighting rooster.I enjoyed the Pulp Fiction-esque cover for the rooster issue, and it was certainly interesting to see the Chu family dynamics... Chu has a fraternal twin sister?? Chu's ex... not sure what happened there, but I'm certainly curious!
review 2: Another fun volume. I love getting to know these characters more, and digging deeper into the mystery that is the bird flu and the chicken prohibition.I'm still loving this art. One of the things I haven't mentioned before that I appreciate are all the little background details in each panel. This is such a rich, well-developed worl
... mored, and every inch if every panel supports the story and world-building with little things like posters on the walls and things sitting on desks. Of course, I also still love the coloring and the dynamic action of each page. Even if the story wasn't great, if love looking at this comic just for the visuals. The writing is great, too, of course. The more we see Tony and John together, the more I love them as partners. They really would do anything for each other. We're finally getting to know Amelia more, and she seems to be a great match for Tony, for the most part understanding how who he is both as a cibopath and a FDA agent shape his life. With Mason finally eating Tony's ear and then the advent of the Chu family Thanksgiving, we finally learn (and so do Mason and Amelia) about Tony's greatest secret: his daughter Olive. I'm really curious about Olive, and why she lives with family instead of Tony. I'm assuming her mother is Tony's crazy ex-fiancée, Min, so I'm curious to know what her whole story is, too. Also, why Tony keeps her severed toe in the freezer. Is that so he can always know where she is and what she's up to?As for the big bird flu mystery that Mason Savoy, and therefore Tony, is chasing down, it all seems to be leading back to Montero. Did Montero cause the bird flu? Or simply know it was coming and planned accordingly to profit off it? Also, how creepy are those Frickens?? I'll admit to being curious to know how it would taste?, but don't want to see one hopping around. And the big cliffhanger for this volume: what's that in the sky? Something alien? The real reason behind the bird flu? Whatever send those gallsaberries to earth? Time to read volume 4, I guess! less
