review 1: Not a huge fan of serial novels, I didn't realize I had picked up the mother of serial novels. Something like 37 "Prey" novels, so I wasn't too enthusiastic about this book. But I was wrong. The characters were strong and somewhat independent of previous novels, but there clearly were relationships there that were deep and wide. And I have since realized that some of the minor characters in this book were the major characters in other books. A bit gory but not really unexpected.
review 2: John Sandford delivers again. Brisky paced and filled with believable characters, red herrings, and action, Field of Prey bounces readers on a ping-pong search through rural Minnesota to track down a serial killer who has claimed victims for years without anybody noticing. Thi... mores is part of the Lucas Davenport series and can be read as a stand-alone. But, it's richer when the books are read in order as the main characters' lives unfold throughout the series and they become old friends. less
