review 1: A quick, suspenseful read that I couldn't put down. Judith and her friend went out in the middle of the night and her friend was found murdered and Judith came back years later partially mutilated. Set during the colonial era, Judith is treated as the town pariah by even her family. As thought she brought it on herself. Was the mutilation a violent act against her or done to save her life? Quick read.
