review 1: This is a wonderful telling of an oft told fairy tale - Cinderella. It's almost unrecognizable as the same story; but there are enough similarities that I think it must be patterned after Cinderella. Berry tells a story rich in description with wonderful characters. The end seemed a bit rushed to me - I would have liked a little more explanation and description here. But overall, I loved this book!
review 2: This is a quick, enjoyable read. That said, it doesn't feel fully realized. I wanted to like it more than I did, and I think if it had been 2 or 3 books, I would have. There was so much here. I wanted to dive into this world for longer and get thoroughly lost. The characters, too, felt a bit under-developed, which spending more time with them would have fix... moreed. All in all, love the concept. I just wish it had been more detailed. less
