Captain Marvel, Vol. 7 (Marvel Now)
review 1: Carol Danvers is a great character and an easy one to like, but readers picking up the series for the first time are probably going to be lost coming into this second volume. It's still great but I did feel like I was missing a lot since I haven't read the Ms Marvel series that came before this. Also while the art in the first two chapters or so are great the art after that takes a sharp and rather unpleasant turn. I definitely was not a fan of the second art style used in this book. While the later story are in this volume is fantastic it does end without being resolved and after this the volume series starts over at number 1 which leads me to believe that it may have been cancelled and then restarted. Which is such a shame because it's a great story arc but if don't know i... moref it was ever finished.Still a great volume of Captain Marvel and highly recommended.
review 2: Kelly Sue DeConnick continues her excellent run on Captain Marvel. The two-part story with Monica Rambeau, one of the previous holders of the Captain Marvel name, is great, and lots of fun. The highlight issue, to me, is #9, showing a day in the life of Carol Danvers. The issue is hilarious, but also with some sweet parts. And then a bit of a wham ending, but everything up to that is wonderful. The last three issues are great superhero work that advance the plot well. The real draw is KSD's writing. She writes probably the most human characters in comics. She gives them a lot of personality and depth. For art, the two issues by Dexter Soy are gorgeous. The rest of the issues are by Filipe Andrade, and he's a polarizing one. For my part, I really liked his work. It's very kinetic, highly stylized, long and thin and a bit sharp. It actually reminds me in some ways of Emma Rios. A lot of people hate Andrade's style, but I loved it.I'm a big fan of KSD's Captain Marvel, and this set of issues keeps the high quality. less

You know its a good comic when one of the lines is "I need to go punch a dinosaur."

I honestly didn't love this volume, but I'd still probably keep reading.

I must be enjoying the story or I wouldn't be putting up with the art.

Great book, great art, but I don't like cliffhangers!
