review 1: "CAAAMAAAZOOOTZ!" Richard Corben gets to take over like half of the book this time (and this is a pretty large book compared to previous volumes) and I am grateful for it. I love that Mike Mignola has gone out for a host of great talent for these stories as it's always wonderful to see Hellboy from different POV's. Mignola's writing is as awesome as always. He makes this stuff look effortless and I can always count on him to never disappoint.
review 2: Hellboy is awesome, and after a few blasé story arcs that weren't much fun, this collections proves that short stories are often Hellboy's best format. As Mignola's style is becoming so simplistic that it's losing some of its punch, his reliance on other artists are often wise choices. The very best story, by fa... morer, is the vampire tale with the little girl. Any vampire character that looks like Christopher Lee is a big plus. Recommended! less
