review 1: As mysteries should be, this novel was a page-turner from the first page to the last. The characters, especially the protagonist, Dr. Frieda Klein, were fully developed and felt like truly real people. There were enough plot twists to keep me guessing all the way through. The scene descriptions were detailed enough for me to picture each scene as if I were actually there. This was basically two stories in one. The first story was of a woman with some surprising and disturbing secrets who had been brutally murdered. The other story was of a serial killer who had gotten away with several murders. The way in which the two story lines met were a bit contrived but in some ways still plausible. On balance, I enjoyed this novel very much and look forward to reading more f... morerom this talented author. If you enjoy mysteries, give this one a look. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
review 2: I picked this up at the library, and soon realized that this was the third in a series. I had to abandon it as the story in "Wednesday" depended on threads the author started in the first two books with "Monday" and "Tuesday" in their titles. I love the writing; discovered "Nicci French" is actually a collaboration between two authors, one male and one female. The setting is in England, and one of the main characters, Freida, is a psychologist, so this definitely fits into the psychological mystery category, which is one of my favorite genres. Well written and suspenseful. But start with #1! less
