review 1: This novel, the first in a series, opens with the disappearance/abduction of a young girl. It then switches to current times and introduces the characters for this series. I spent a good bit of time trying to even figure out why the child's abduction was even included. And, even after reading the book, I have no idea why some characters were included at all (perhaps they'll appear in later novels). I closed the book feeling no great affinity for any of the characters. Still the plot was interesting enough that I'll try the next book and see if any characters become likeable, a trait I need to begin following a series.
review 2: This book dives into a truly dark and twisted tale of kidnapping, lies and betrayal. The main character is delightfully un-heroine
... more in that she also struggles with darkness in her daily work as a psychotherapist and compensates for it by being fastidiously OCD and frequently insomniac. This thriller kept me guessing, and the ending gave me the kind of scary goosebumps you can only get from an unexpected twist! This is the beginning to a series that I hope to continue reading. less

ondanks het verrassend einde, duurde het te lang eer het boek echt op gang kwam
