2018 SAG Awards: TV Drama Cast Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Did you think I was done with my wishes for the 2018 SAG Awards red carpet today? NOPE! I have a bunch more wishes for the ladies nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series. I have already made my wishes for the ladies of Game of Thrones and The Crown, and this list brings together the ladies of This Is Us, Stranger Things, and The Handmaid’s Tale who don’t have individual nominations. Mandy Moore was the breakout style star of last awards season and she has shown us some amazing moments on the red carpet since. She gave a bold pop of color with a coral waistband on her black Rosie Assoulin gown at the Golden Globe Awards, and I am hoping for a really beautiful moment from her on the SAG Awards red carpet this weekend. I decided to go left of the normal gown for Mandy and pick this rich ruby red silk Monse Pre-Fall 2018 one sleeve pajama inspired gown which features a draped A-line silhouette, gathered side seam, and asymmetric hem paired over black tapered ankle length pants. This is a really modern moment for a red carpet, and I definitely think that Mandy could make it work on the SAG Awards red carpet. I don’t think I would have gotten into this for an event like the Golden Globes, but with the more relaxed nature of the SAG Awards I thought that this would be a really great moment for Mandy. Style it with a pair of black Paul Andrew buckled sandals, a loose updo, smokey eye, matching red lips, and a pair of gorgeous vintage inspired diamond and ruby Martin Katz chandelier earrings to really ensure that this look is top to toe perfection.Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer has become one of my favorite members of the cast to see on the red carpet. She delivers these really chic feminine moments on the red carpet with the help of her stylist Brad Goreski. Their first moment together was actually at last years SAG Awards where Brad put Natalia in a custom red and pink Miu Miu gown, which put her on the style map. I decided to go back to that same kind of color combination for her to rock this year again, but instead of custom I went to vintage. I miss Christian Lacroix collections. His talent is surely missed, but there are so many major moments that are circulating the vintage circuit right now that I think that stylists should bring his pieces back to the red carpet and remind people of his special brand of glamour. This red and pink vintage Christian Lacroix gown from the 1990’s strewn with dots is cut on the bias and draped in such a chic and classic way and I definitely think that it would play into Natalia’s personal quirky and feminine brand of glamour for the SAG Awards red carpet. The gown itself is such a statement that I think that the styling has to be on point to really make this another Best Dressed moment for the actress. I would add a light pink Alexander McQueen ‘King and Queen’ crystal embellished skull clasp clutch, a pair of tonal pink color-blocked Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Cammo’ sandals, a romantic updo, bright defined eyes, a rose pink lip, and a pair of rose pink diamond Pheres ‘Agata’ drop earrings to really ensure that is exactly what this is, a best dressed moment.Sadie Sink is another one from the Stranger Things cast who has caught the eye of the fashion industry. Her red carpet resume so far has seen her wearing off the runway Chanel, custom Prada, and custom Miu Miu so far. She seems to definitely fit the edgy yet glam vibe of a Prada girl and I think that she will definitely take the red carpet by storm on Sunday in another design from Miuccia, be it from Prada or Miu Miu. I went to the virtual racks of FarFetch.com to pick the perfect dress for Sadie to wear on the SAG red carpet with this Prada cocktail dress adorned with a colorful ‘Poster Girl’ motif. The light blue shift dress also features a round neckline, a sleeveless design, a concealed rear zip fastening, a knee length, a rear slit and a dramatic ostrich feather-trimmed hem. Another Prada girl, Elle Fanning, has been the only other person to make this print work (during Cannes,) and while it might be a little out there for most American red carpets, I don’t think that Sadie really cares. She gives this IDGAF attitude in both the show and via her red carpet style, the crystal mesh Prada dress she wore for the American Music Awards showed us that. A sleek updo, petrol blue velvet Prada platform sandals, a defined eye, nude lip, and a pair of Belladora turquoise and diamond flower earrings all would ensure that the dress is the focus of this look. Winona Ryder isn’t one that I expect much from on the red carpet to be honest. Over the last year she wore exclusively black on the red carpet with Viktor & Rolf at the 2017 Golden Globes, Ryan Roche at the 2017 SAG Awards, and vintage black for the Stranger Things Season 2 LA premiere. I am hoping that she was just recently announced as a face of L’Oreal Paris that her style will start to elevate in anticipation for the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. I think that kicking that off with this black sequin Narciso Rodriguez Pre-Fall 2018 tank gown would be a great idea. I think that it stays within the small style box that Winona has set for herself, but elevates it to a new level. Add a sleek updo, bold defined eyes, a light pink lip, metallic grey Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pumps, and a pair of Neil Lane grey diamond ball earrings to really ensure that Winona has a beautiful moment on this red carpet. If the Best Drama Series wins at the the Emmy’s and Golden Globe’s has anything to say about it I think that The Handmaids Tale is likely to take home the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series. I don’t think a show has left me as shook and The Handmaids Tale did in a really long time. Honestly the show had so many blindsiding moments that I would be surprised if it didn’t. The cast works so well together, even though some of them never see each other. I was shook when (**SPOILER ALERT**) Samira Wiley was unexpectedly killed off of Orange is the New Black, but her role in The Handmaid’s Tale was amazing. Her red carpet looks recently, on the other hand, have been very up and down. She wore a Romona Keveza gown for the Golden Globe Awards that had a neckline detail that likened to dishwasher pods, but she redeemed herself wearing a romantic Rebecca Vallance gown for the Critics Choice Awards. I love seeing Samira wearing bold colors and some of her best looks have come courtesy of Christian Siriano, so I thought why not mesh the two and pick this hot pink Christian Siriano Spring 2018 column gown which features a fitted silhouette, bias draped detail on back, and a center back slit? This sleek, modern glam moment would be a real statement look for Samira to wear on this red carpet, and I think that it would just pop against her skin tone. Tight curls swept up in a sleek style, smokey eyes, nude lips, strappy black patent Schutz sandals, and a selection of pink spinel and diamond jewelry from IVY including a pair of statement pendant drop earrings and a matching cocktail ring all would add the perfect finishing touches to this red carpet moment for Samira. Yvonne Strahvoski is one you want to hate, but can’t help to feel sorry for. She seemed to be a mastermind behind the whole premise of what happens in The Handmaids Tale, but she is rendered powerless. She isn’t powerless on the red carpet though. She works with power stylist Cristina Ehrlich and the two have made sexy magic on the red carpet together. I want to see Yvonne keep up that sexy glamour on the SAG Awards red carpet wearing this silver Naeem Khan Spring 2018 RTW gown which features a single shoulder strap, fluid beaded embroidery, and a floor length hem. I have been surprised that this gown hasn’t been snatched up yet, but I do think that Yvonne at the SAG Awards would be the perfect case of right girl in the right dress at the right event. I would add a sleek updo, simple defined eyes, a nude lip, woven grey Bottega Veneta knot clutch, a pair of silver/grey Casadei tonal stiletto sandals, and simple art deco Cartier diamond drop earrings to ensure that Yvonne really showcases glamour on this red carpet.

The 2018 SAG Awards will take place on Sunday January 21, 2018.
