review 1: The Last Thing I Remember by Andrew Klavan is a story about a high school boy named Charlie West. He was taken and stored at a unknown facility. He tried numerous times to recap how he ended up here. Charlie is a straight A student, and was a black belt in karate. He later found out he was convicted of a felony charge. He struggled to come to his senses through the journey. There were many things that grabbed my attention. The best one is the book cover. A smokey fire on a bridge with a man running for his dear life with a title, "The last thing I remember." The cover just leaves a aroma of curiosity. In the book there was never a time I ever felt lost. Every sentence was bright and clear with a appropriate level of wording. The author did a excellent job describing the f... moreive senses well without over crowding my mind with details. In the end the book itself is amazing! I would recommend this book to everyone with an action/adventure type genre. It is definitely a page turner that will keep you on edge. If you like non-stop action this is the right book for you. I will certainly check out more books from this author.
review 2: Loved this book so much. It was full on action-packed, and kept me biting my nails as I turned each page - It immediately sucked me in. Andrew Kalvan is an amazing writer. He uses the perfect amount of supsense, and put a lot of personality in Charlie's voice. Throughout the book, mainly in the beginning, I actually noticed some similarites between Charlie's voice and Holden's from Salinger's Catcher in the Rye - which, of course, I loved. This book isn't one of the usual YA novels. It's completely different; there's no drugs, sex, supernatural teens, or any real love interest. It's a thriller that, along with such a great story, deals with moral issues: good vs. evil, truth, etc. That's one of the things I loved about it. It made me think a lot about what I would do if I was put in a situation like Charlie's, and made me wonder about patriotism and faith, and what they mean to us as people. I can't wait to read the next book. I'm seriously considering buying the next two just so I can have own them! 5 stars, and I would definitely recommend this book to others :) less
