review 1: I would like a box of exclamation points for this book. Again, Milan does not play it safe or create stereotypical characters. Edward and Free are both obstinate, and love each other precisely for that reason. After feeling lackluster about the The Countess Conspiracy, Milan once again delivers a smart book wherein the issues are real struggles facing contemporary men and women, not just light problems masquerading as big blockades. The thimble speech was great. In some way, the characters reminded me of one of my favorite pairings, John Thornton and Margaret Hale from Gaskell's North and South. Oh, I found Stephen utterly charming and was happy to read about him in his own novella. One of the best historical romances out there.
review 2: Story: Love it. Huzzah
... more! Suffragettes! 5 starsNarration: Basic narrative is good, voices (both male and female) between acceptable and good. Accents are mostly adequate: Nothing stands out as really awful or really good. The problem is Edward. I didn't notice a French tinge to his speech normally, and I didn't notice a change when he puts on his pompous lord persona. It caused a lack in my enjoyment of the story. :( 3 stars less

THOSE LETTERS TO STEPHEN ARE A GIFT. I COULD READ AN ENTIRE BOOK OF THOSE ALONE.

A good series over all; this one just felt predictable by the end, alas.
