Southern Reach Trilogy

review 1: This is the final book in the Southern Reach trilogy. The Ghost Bird (the entity inhabiting the Biologist's body that is probably not really the Biologist) and Control enter Area X by means of powers granted the Biologist during her initial expedition, when she is exposed to biological material there. At the same time, the story of the stretch of coastline before it became Area X is told, in flashback. It's impossible to say much more without spoiling things, so I'll leave it at that.
review 2: It's possible I would have enjoyed this book more if I had read it instead of listened to the audiobook which had some problems in production I couldn't get past. Aside from that though, I truly enjoyed Annihilation and felt the series degraded with the following two ... morebooks. I found the characters in Authority and Acceptance unlikeable and the story confusing and even dull. I'm sorry I bothered to finish the trilogy. less
