review 1: This time as Riq, Dak, and Sera are thrown around in history, they land in the Ancient Mayan civilization in the hopes of trying to save the precious Mayan Codex. They land in July 25, 638 and are among scholarly men who seem strangely familiar to Sera. But, they cannot find any Hystorians around to help them. Enter Kisa, a beautiful girl who believes in them and their willingness to help preserve the Mayans history. Riq and Kisa fall in love and Riq considers staying behind in 638 when eventually Dak and Sera will move on...but, it isn't to be. Kisa makes him leave, and the trio does. Onward, to another Mayan civilization when Diego de Landa is bent on destroying the Mayan history and converting all to his beliefs. Now, the trio know they must save the Mayan Codex and fix... more this break in history. Strangely, Kisa's work and words come back to them in this civilization 1000 years later...as her work as the beginnings of the Hystorians took shape after Riq's departure 1000 years before. All the while, Sera's Remnants are becoming increasingly vivid and terrifying...She's seen the Cataclysm and what it does to the world, her family, and her future. On to the next....
review 2: In this installment of the Infinity Ring series, Sera, Riq and Dak end up with the Mayans during two different centuries. A fake codex has been passed down through the centuries declaring the SQ as the "savior of society". It is the job of the historians to replace this fake codex with the real one. While they are trying to accomplish this, they see the cruelty of one culture trying to assert its customs on another. "Destroying a culture's history is like murder." But can they change that about history? They are not there to make "moral changes" but only factual ones. Is it right not to try to change history for the better? "There will always be injustice ... what we can always do is continue on." Raises some interesting questions worthy of discussion. Plenty of action less
