review 1: Not as exciting as the first book, but still very readable. I think perhaps is because I'm a bit over the whole Bedouin/sand warrior/"noble savage" trope and would have liked more focus on Arlen and the North at the start of the book. It felt a bit unbalanced in that respect, however as Brett himself said, writing a long fantasy novel with 8 POVs is an impressive achievement and for a new writer he did it well.
review 2: The second book in this series. It goes into much more detail about the previous characters and their past from their point of view. We learn more about Jadir's past and find out what happened to other characters from Arlen's past. I find myself rooting for these characters and wanting good things to happen for them. I am not sure I like exactl
... morey what it happening though. Jadir is not as bad as the first book makes him out to be and we find he is actually kind of honorable, but he seems to get everything. Where as Arlen is much more noble seems to get nothing. less
