review 1: Man oh man, you have to love it when the second book in a series lives up to the expectations created from the first! This was definitely one of those times. Have to admit, the beginning third kind of threw me for a loop following Jardir around in the present with glimpses into his past and rise to power but on finishing the book I really appreciate learning more about him and that culture. Much like the first, this book rolls along at a quick pace, with lots of action, but doesn't skimp on character development. You really get a great sense of these characters and how they are growing and learning. A couple new POVs were great fun to follow. My only slight complaint would be that Rojer seems to a backseat through most of this one and he might be my favorite character. Wou... moreld love more time with him and his fiddle. Straight on to the next one!! Loved it
review 2: I love this series with all my heart! Yet this one was slightly frustrating. granted i did enjoy the Jardid POV chapters, i felt it gave us a perspective on a man whom we once though was nothing more but greedy and power hungry. Toward the end of his past POV i felt somewhat sympathetic for him (crazy considering how much i can't stand the guy) yet the direction the story took toward the end made me concerned. Still it was a great read, and I'm hoping the story takes on a different route in the next one less

Not quite as good as the first in my opinion, but still really good.
