Invincible
review 1: Invincible seems to be growing up. He even finds himself agreeing with Cecil from time to time (unheard of!). Instead of an all-out intestine fest, Invincible takes the time to talk to, and in some cases, works to understand where the bad guys are coming from. He discovers that a lot of them have good intentions, or are operating out of a sense of desperation or pain. In talking to them, he finds ways to diffuse their anger, avert their revenge schemes, and consequently save the earth. He isn't able to save Las Vegas from Dinosaurus, but who knows what may be possible now that they've started having a conversation. I like where this is going.
review 2: There's a surprising lack of gore in this volume of "Invincible" -- instead, there's a lot more thoughtf
... moreulness, as Mark begins to question whether every problem can or should be solved by punching the snot out of some miscreant. Which is fine, but Mark -- traumatized by the destruction of Las Vegas on his watch -- may be taking the urge to help-outside-the-box to extremes. There's some really nice characterization in this volume, of both Mark, his friends, and even the Bad Guys. The Ryan Ottley art is, as always, clean and splendid. And the question of "how should a super-hero best serve the world" is one that a lot of books aren't willing to consider.Good stuff. less

I was worried the series was all downhill after the Viltrumite War, but this continues nicely.
